kioskSANTA CRUZ > New information kiosk aims to help people navigate Santa Cruz

What’s the closest beach? How do I get to the Museum of Art & History? How far is the Mystery Spot? Is there a good breakfast spot around here?

“If we weren’t here, who would you ask that question [to]?” says Chip, the Downtown Association executive director who goes by one name, with a grin.

“We have so much information that we’re just waiting to give out,” chimes in Kim Luke, the Downtown Association communications director. The two are standing inside of the new Downtown Santa Cruz Information Kiosk, an info hub that is now open in front of the New Leaf Community Market on Pacific Avenue.

The kiosk hopes to be able to provide both locals and visitors alike with any and all the 411 that they can about Santa Cruz’s multitude of attractions. The staff has plenty of resources and guides on hand, from a large book of restaurant menus to personalized recommendations for events, music and theater shows, and everything in between.

“This is a conduit for people to really take advantage of it down here,” says Chip.  The staff believes the kiosk will not only be able to provide information for those who are just visiting Santa Cruz, but also to help locals get to know their own city on a deeper, more detailed level. “This is also an important way to support connections with people and our businesses,” Chip adds.

There will be a grand opening and ribbon cutting for the Information Kiosk tonight, Friday, May 17, at 5 p.m. The info center is located at 1130 Pacific Ave., K2, and is open from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily, and until 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings.
