What do you do for a living?

I'm a cake designer and own a company in Capitola, Just Cake.

What would you be doing if you weren't doing that?

I feel like I've done the other things I've wanted to do already. I've been pretty fortunate to be able to have a couple fun and successful careers prior to this. But ... if I had to choose something entirely different I'd say I'd like to be a travel writer—simply to have an excuse to travel all the time ;)

What do you do in your free time?

Honestly? I think of all the things I should be working on! I also love to cook, go to the beach and travel!

What brought you to Santa Cruz?

I grew up here, actually. I was away for about 10 years but returned in 2002

What's your favorite street?

Via Gaviota. It's the street in Aptos where my grandparents' beach house is. Having moved a lot growing up, and especially now that my mother is gone, it's the one place that really feels like home.

Name something you're excited about.

A secret project! :)

Name a pet peeve.

Traffic.

What are you reading?

I just finished The Help by Kathryn Stockett.

What's the most important thing you've learned in the last three years?

Be careful what you wish for ...

Recent personal food trend?

Eating gluten-free. I've just discovered I have a gluten intolerance, which for a pastry chef is a pretty cruel twist of fate!
