Earth Day 2000 Festival The community faire features two stages with bands and speakers, a Zero-Waste Demonstration Arena, the Solarific Kid's Zone, environmental resource booths and vendors selling food and sustainably made crafts. Earth Day 2000 ParadeLed by local musicians from Sambada and Pankind, dancers and Art and Revolution puppets, the parade will weave its way through San Lorenzo Park and the Green Energy Forum. Earth Day Activism Workshops As part of the Earth Day 2000 Festival, CALPIRG presents multiple workshops with topics ranging from environmental journalism to nonviolent resistance. A creativity workshop focuses on capoeira, puppet making and drumming. A schedule of workshop times and topics will be posted at the festival. Apr 22, noon-6pm. Free. Earth Day Clean Harbor Save Our Shores and Shared Adventures host a kayaking event at which physically challenged explore the harbor and bring clean-boating messages to boaters. Sat, 10am. Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor, Santa Cruz, 831.462.5660.

Earth Day Environmentalism The Zero Waste Demonstration Arena in San Lorenzo Park aims to educate people on home composting, worm composting, green building, computer recycling and waste-reduction programs. The Green Energy Forum takes place in the county building parking lot adjacent to the Earth Day Festival. The Solar Stage presents live music, panel discussions and speakers on energy issues throughout the afternoon. Apr 22, noon-6pm. Free. San Lorenzo Park, between Water St and Soquel Ave, Santa Cruz.
