. About Us
Founded in April 1963, it was originally conceived as a West Coast version of The Village Voice, which came along eight years earlier and ceased publishing in 2017. The Sun has for six decades focused on Marin—its people, politics, environment, education and arts. In doing so, it has helped shape Marin’s distinctive culture and identity, and become an indispensible part of Marin life.
The Sun’s goal is to inform and be informed by readers in a thoughtful, provocative, literate, witty and honest manner. Pick it up or view it online for fresh, original content and useful information about the communities north of the Golden Gate.
