GT’s pet of the week, brought to you by the Center for Animal Protection and Education
Walter and Peter were tiny puppies when they were brought to the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter after one of their siblings died of Parvovirus. Luckily, both of them tested negative for the disease. Because they were too young to go up for adoption, they were placed in a Center for Animal Protection and Education foster home.
Now four months old, Walter and Peter’s foster mom reports it has been very fun having the two puppies in her home, and she calls the bond between the two of them “just plain adorable.”
CAPE is hoping to place the two puppies into the same home, or at least homes where there is already another dog. Walter and Peter are working hard on their potty training, and they already sleep through the night in their crate.
The puppies are said to be Shih Tzu/Terrier mixes and should weigh between 10 and 12 pounds in adulthood. Walter (the fluffy one) is more outgoing and independent, while Peter is sensitive and likes to snuggle. They are both very loving dogs who have been socialized with five other dogs in their foster home. They love to play and chew like most puppies, so will need an assortment of appropriate toys.
