With names such as Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone and Flesh-N-Bone, the artists in the long-running rap group Bone Thugs-n-Harmony sound like characters in a children’s book—but they definitely are not. Hailing from Cleveland, they got their start in the early 1990s when legendary rapper Eazy-E signed them to Ruthless Records. Last year, the group got the music world’s attention when it announced it would make only one copy of its final record and auction it off with bids starting at $1 million. Is this an emerging business model? Time will tell.
