Kicking off its 58th season, the Santa Cruz Symphony continues to receive widespread critical acclaim under the direction of Maestro Daniel Stewart. For its 2015-2016 season opener, the symphony presents Inventing America, a concert featuring works by four different composers: Copland’s “Fanfare for a Common Man,” Oswaldo Golijov’s arrangement of Severiano Briseño’s “El Sinaloense,” Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” featuring Jon Nakamatsu on piano, and Dvořák’s “Symphony No. 9 in E Minor,” long considered the first Great American Symphony.
