The City of Santa Cruz received sufficient federal and local funding to commission the construction of the downtown beach area’s first-ever modern roundabout. The roundabout, which is being constructed at the Pacific Avenue/Center Street intersection, is anticipated to improve accessibility to Downtown Santa Cruz and its adjacent beach. Construction commenced the week of Oct. 25 and should be completed by Spring 2011. If all goes according to plan, another Pacific Street intersection (Pacific Avenue at Beach Street) will also be revamped with a roundabout in fall 2011.
