.Escaped Prisoner Arrested

blog_dirt_AinsworthMauriceUPDATE At 4:45 p.m Five hours after he tased a sheriff’s deputy, police arrested fugitive Maurice Ainsworth at a house at 120 English Drive.


UPDATE At 2:45 p.m. this afternoon, Dominican Hospital Director of Communications Mike Lee released the following statement: “Dominican remains on modified shelter in place status.  As a precaution for the safety of patients, visitors, and staff all entries are guarded and blocked.  Patients and families are being escorted in and out by security officers at the one designated access point. 
The injured Sheriff officer is listed in fair condition.  No hospital personnel were injured in the incident.

‘We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and are encouraging community members to stay away unless it’s a medical emergency,’ says Nanette Mickiewicz, MD, Dominican Hospital President.

At about 2:30 p.m. the nearby Secret Garden Too preschool was evacuated to the Education department.  All of the kids are accounted for and safe.  For parents wishing to pick up their children, the best access to the Education Building is via Mission Drive off Soquel Drive.”


Original post: Harbor High School and other schools in the DeLaveaga area are on lockdown while Santa Cruz law enforcement search for an escaped prisoner today, Monday, Nov. 29. Maurice Ainsworth escaped near Dominican Hospital earlier this morning while being transported when he stole the transporting Deputy’s handgun and also tased her. Reportedly, he then fled and shot a nearby security guard. Ainsworth is 6 foot 7 inches, 265 pounds and wearing a yellow jumpsuit. More information is available here.
