The torrential rains on March 26 broke the Noble Gulch stormwater pipe under the Pacific Cove Mobile Home Park causing flash floods of two to three feet in Capitola. The City of Capitola reports that this pipe has now been replaced by city crews and Granite Construction. The new pipe has the same conveyance capacity as the pipe had before its failure. Nevertheless, the city urges residents and business owners to monitor weather forecasts and take appropriate precautions in flood-prone areas. The National Weather Service is currently reporting more rain is on its way tonight and tomorrow. A benefit event and concert will be held this Saturday, April 9 at Esplanade Park to help those impacted by last week’s flood. The event will be held from 1:00-7:00 p.m. and will feature local bands and merchants. For more information, contact Kelly Barreto at 475-7300.
