No, it’s not easy to get around Santa Cruz by car and one of the major issues living on the Westside is Mission Street. People always want to make left-hand turns and there’s no turn lanes for a lot of it. Also, I’d have to say the way traffic is fed onto Highway 1 at the fishhook is absolutely horrendous. I don’t have a response to that but it’s diabolical.

It’s easy on the Westside when you’re near up north, but it’s not as easy when you get into the populated areas. I think that if there was a bike lane that went on the freeway with wood on-ramps, then you could commute to Capitola way quicker.

I just moved from L.A., where we have really bad traffic, and driving around Santa Cruz seems like a dream compared to L.A. Everything seems to flow really well and it seems pretty easy to get around Santa Cruz by car.

I don’t think there is anything you can do to make it better. It’s not on a grid formation it’s all determined by the river and very old neighborhoods and old streets. I live on the Westside and there is no direct way to get to downtown except Mission Street and it’s always clogged up.
