What’s so weird about Santa Cruz?

I made up my own bumper sticker, it says “Santa Cruz wasn’t weird until you got here.” I think what makes Santa Cruz weird is UCSC.

It’s an arty crafty community left over from the ’60s. Unfortunately the rent got too high, but it’s very tolerant of alternative lifestyles, and I guess you can call that weird.

Not enough. The city council mostly, I don’t think the city council is liberal enough. I think they pretend to be, but they’re really not. And I think the anti- homeless laws are some of the worst in the country and I don’t agree with them. I think the sit-down laws and the anti-panhandling laws are very bad. I atually just moved out of Santa Cruz and I’m happy to be gone.
