Love ’em or hate ’em? I’m curious to hear from readers what you think about flip flops, since it’s summer time and everyone’s wearing them. Me? I think they’re awful. Absolutely ugly. Who wants to look at toes? They might be the most unattractive part of the human body. And besides that, it’s my opinion that flip flops absolutely ruin an outfit, unless of course, its beach wear—at the beach. Then, of course, that’s fine. It’s a functional, practical shoe. But I think that putting together any beautiful outfit can be a fun experience for a woman (or a man for that matter), but most outfits are simply ruined by the mere slipping on of flip flops. Why not don a pair of delicate flats instead—they provide that final touch to your outfit, you look stylish, and no one has to see your toes. On the other hand, my colleague, Elizabeth, says, “I think flip flops are comfortable and cute. And if someone is wearing a cute outfit but with flip flops, how do you know they’re not just showing off a pedicure, or on their way to the beach? In a town embedded in surf culture, it’s also a cultural thing. However, I do not condone wearing the cheap drugstore plastic flip flops.
