Trinity 2010 for Valentine’s Day
Looking for a smooth and sexy number for Valentine’s Day? A hot little item that’s not going to empty your wallet? And I’m talking about wine here! We all need something sensuous for Valentine’s—and if you’re planning a home-cooked meal by candlelight, then you’re going to need an interesting wine to go with it. And here’s where Soquel Vineyards’ Trinity comes in.
Trinity is a delicious blend of three different wines—Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon—and hence the name. Reasonably priced at $16, it’s available now at the winery and in various stores. Most of Soquel Vineyards’ wines sell for more than $16 because the wines are high end. During the course of production, they are carefully and minimally handled so that the full flavor of the fruit can be extracted. Also, for the more expensive wines, grapes are fastidiously chosen from select vineyards—and the fruit is aged in prime cooperage. Most of Soquel Vineyards’ wines are gold medal winners in various wine competitions, and I’m glad to report that the 2003 Trinity also won a gold medal in 2005 for the Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association Commercial Wine Competition. With all the wines submitted at competitions far and wide, it’s not easy to win any kind of medal, never mind a gold medal.
Soquel Vineyards also makes a robust and delicious Pinot Noir. The 2007 Lester Family Vineyards Pinot, which normally sells for $40 is on sale for $25—an absolute bargain in the world of wine. And its claim to fame is that it’s a gold medal winner in the prestigious 2010 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.
So if you want to impress your sweetheart by getting a good bottle of wine, then either the Trinity or the 2007 Pinot should do the trick.
Happy Valentine’s Day to all of the sweethearts, lovers and wine drinkers out there.
