What are your thoughts on Obama supporting same-sex marriage?

Whether or not he’s making a political move, he is having an opinion about a very controversial subject which is usually really avoided, and that alone deserves respect. The reason it’s avoided is because there’s the chance of losing a bunch of voters. Gaining or losing, at least it’s an opinion on a very serious and cared-about issue.

I think to each his own is fine, but I really believe that same sex-marriage is wrong and that marriage should be between a man and a woman. And that’s how I feel about it.

I think it’s absolutely apropriate. It’s a long time coming, and I think he secretly has supported gay rights for a long time. He’s just now found the bravado to come out of the closet, so to speak. I was supportive of him before and continue to be a supporter of him. I think it’s great.

I think it’s just political expediency. I think it may gain him some votes, it may turn off some votes. It’s probably going to be a neutral proposition in the long run.
