.Best Beauty Products

blog_ob3Among beauty aficionados there’s the saying, “So, what are you using?” In response, Obsessive Beauty has decided to share our favorite beauty products with our kind readers. We’ll reveal our secrets over the course of several posts. Here’s a look at what makes our faces look better every day:

Foundation: Chantecaille Future Skin. At $68 for a small jar, this is definitely an investment, but makeup artists have told me that Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie have both been reported to use this line of foundation.

It’s oil-free and saturated with a tremendous amount of water, which gives a natural but complete finish. I’ve tried every foundation out there and this one wins by a landslide. Chantecaille.com.blog_ob2

Mineral powder (daily wear): Bare Minerals, of course—the Original SPF 15 Foundation. This company kicked off the mineral powder craze and no one has been able to match their success or their proven results. Obsessive Beauty has tried a host of other mineral powders and none rival this constant award-winner. And the price isn’t too shabby—$25.

Finishing powder: The one, the only, the top-notch HD Microfinish Powder by Make Up For Ever. You’ll find this staple in any professional makeup artist’s toolkit. Selling for $30, this powder is designed especially for actresses and models under the glare of HD. However, it also works for anyone going for a translucent, finished look.

blog_ob1Blush/Highlighter: While there are too many to choose from, and everyone knows that Nars always wins this category, these days we’re leaning toward something a little more natural—a delicate pop of pink on the apples of your cheeks courtesy of Benefit. “Dandelion” is advertised more as a highlighter to brighten up your entire face, but we’ve found that if you swipe it on just your cheeks you’ll look more awake and fresh, but no one will know your secret. It sells for $28.

Note: While this might tick off some people, the only product we really don’t recommend using on your face is MAC. The company has excellent eye and lip products, but based on our own experience, and most everyone we’ve spoken with, the foundations and powders go on thick and chalky, you look like you’re wearing makeup, and you’re bound to break out. Sorry, MAC, but we just can’t give you a plug in the “face” category.

Tell us what your favorite products are.
