For theatre arts I would say the Cabrillo stage summer season was very successful. I really enjoyed “La Cage Aux Folles” and “Oaklahoma” as well as “Escaping Queens.” The Fringe Festival was also really good. Um-Gee-Um and some other great acts came and did their thing.

I would say a great achievement is that Santa Cruz has maintained a small town environment in allowing the local businesses and the people that live here actually to flourish. The second would be that they’ve maintained the atmosphere of the Wharf and The Boardwalk. Wherever I travel people identify Santa Cruz with the Boardwalk and the Wharf.

There’s only been one great achievement and that was the Chili Cookoff down at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in October. Incredible chili’s, booths, costumes—a great time was had by all.

We opened the dialogue on Desal. And seriously good bird and whale watching.
