.Sarah’s Vineyard

At $10 a person, Wine Wednesdays at Seascape has got to be one of the best deals in town. Not only do you get to taste a flight of three or four different wines from a featured winery, but also you get a serving of delicious tapas-style food.  I went with a couple of friends on the evening that Sarah’s Vineyard was pouring—one of my favorite wineries in the area. I vividly remember the first time I tasted Sarah’s Vineyard Chardonnay—at a food and wine event in Los Gatos several years ago—and it knocked my socks off. One should never underestimate the seductive power of a fabulous Chardonnay.
As well as enjoying the flight offered that evening—and listening to the dulcet tones of singer Lisa Marie Bohn—I bought a bottle of Sarah’s luscious Chardonnay (what else!) to write about. I am totally smitten with the gorgeous flavors of this new release ($25) – ripe red apple, sweet lemon and custard-like note on the finish.
Sarah’s Vineyard is the featured winery at an upcoming dinner on May 19 in the Pino Alto Restaurant in the Sesnon House in Aptos. Run by the Cabrillo College Culinary Arts program, I can’t sing the praises highly enough of the outstanding cuisine prepared by Cabrillo’s students at special events. Last month, a dinner paired with beer from Seabright Brewery showcased some of the most imaginative food I have eaten in ages, along with some splendid beer, too. Call 479-6524 for reservations.
