Considering the size of the city, we actually have pretty good public transportation. I used to take it all the time. In fact, I was one of the first riders on the first bus that went up to the university.

I rode it for 33 years, and I don’t like it. When you see public transportation in other cities it’s a hundred times better. Every year we get higher rates and less service. I just don’t agree with it and so I drive.

It would be nice if we had some. We have a good bus system but it’s mostly a safety net. And what we really need in Santa Cruz is a tram or a train to connect with systems that are expanding rapidly throughout all of California.

I ride my bike so ultimately I don’t really have any issues with the public transportation at all, but I think it would be great if we actually had some way to commute from downtown Santa Cruz to maybe Capitola. I think it would maybe help out with tourism in both areas.
