I went to Denny’s every year that I was working retail, since they would not let me go home for Thanksgiving. We stole that from my girlfriend’s family, who did that every year since they did not cook for Thanksgiving.

My friends and I would go on a bike ride and call it the turkey trot—up to Sand Point in Nisene Marks. We did different places, but I remember doing that ride quite a bit. Works up an appetite.

We would take a blank piece of paper and everyone would write two lines, and then you fold the paper over so you can only see the bottom line, and then you pass it on to the next person. So basically everybody only writes two lines. And at the end of it, you get to read the whole thing and it’s amazing how it all connects.
